As 2008 comes to a close

We have much to be thankful for. We have our health, our family, our jobs and our friends. We have been blessed with a beautiful baby granddaughter who is the light of our lives!

Our hope for 2009 is that our new President will guide this nation to a smoother road ahead. We pray for a world at peace and our nation healed. It will all take time. And we wish all our friends and family a very happy and healthy 2009!

Christmas with the Klus Family ....

The BIG snowstorm of December 2008. It lasted through Christmas Day!

Here are Kenley's cousins from Nana's side of the family.
Sarah did such a good job of holding Kenley for the photo shoot!
Way to go Sarah!

She's growing ...

Little Kenley weighed in at 7 lbs 7 oz on her first visit to Dr. Lavinder's office on December 11. Today she went back for another weigh in and gained a whole pound! 8 lbs. 7 oz. She is fitting nicely into her newborn clothes now.

Santa visit

Kenley met Santa for the first time at Nordstrom on December 16th. She fell asleep as soon as she was handed to him. To go along with that theme, Santa closed his eyes too!

Kenley's first snow ....

Oh so many firsts to experience. Saturday, December 13, was our first snow in a very long time. It snowed on Sunday too. It is cold, crisp and yet so beautiful. There is something so clean and pristine about newly fallen snow. I look forward to the day I can teach Kenley how to make snow angels!

First trip to Nordstrom ....

On Saturday, December 13, 2008, Kenley made her first trip to the new Nordstrom at the Tacoma Mall. Everyone at Nordy's was anxiously waiting to meet the newest member of our family. I went along for support and an extra set of hands - you know those first outings as a new mom, just packing up takes 2 + hours!

When we arrived, you would have thought Kenley was a celebrity! Well, honestly, she is our own little star. The rumor that she was "in the house" spread quickly. We had people tracking us down before we could reach them. Kenley was pretty oblivious to all the ruckus. She barely made a peep! And to finish off an already perfect outing, she made her first trip to the E Bar.

The trip must have tuckered our sweet little baby because Andrea tells me she slept well most of the night! Yea for mom!

We are Grandparents ...

We are officially grandparents! What a wonderful title to be given. I know I'm going to love being "Nana".

Our little granddaughter was born in the morning on Monday, December 8, 2008.

Kenley Anakalia Jarrett
12.8.2008
9:34 am
7 lbs 13 oz
20 1/2 inches long

Monday's child is fair of face and wow is she beautiful! She has a full head of dark hair. Her eyes are dark, dark blue right now. We are anxiously waiting for them to become their true color.

We are so proud of Andrea. She did an awesome job after 32 hours of labor. It is ironic that Kenley was born on a Monday. Her mom is also Monday's child, as is her Auntie Ju Ju and her G-Papa Bob (Bob threw out this name as a joke, I think it is adorable but secretly I think he is waiting to see what name Kenley decides for him).
