Sometimes after a nasty diaper, we put Kenley in the sink for a quick clean up. It's getting harder to do this as she splashes water everywhere, including on me.

Sink bath
Sometimes after a nasty diaper, we put Kenley in the sink for a quick clean up. It's getting harder to do this as she splashes water everywhere, including on me.
SHE'S ON THE MOVE -- August 23
Kenley started crawling last weekend. She has perfected her movements over the last several days. Tonight she crawled down the hallway to find G-Papa. She is so proud of herself. She loves how she can get her own toys when they used to be out of reach. Sorry about the blurry photo, as she is always moving! She says "uh oh" and she makes this scrunchy face after every bite of food. She makes us all belly laugh. I have a video of the scrunchy face that I'll try to post later.

A few of my favorite photos
Happy 8-Month Birthday, Kenley!!
Kenley stayed with us for the weekend. Daddy had reserves and mama was working. But next weekend they are taking Kenley on her first camping trip! Yay, what fun.
She turned 8 months old on Saturday. Bob & I talked a lot about how much this little girl has learned in 8 short months. Actually in the last 6 months really, as she didn't do much in the first 2 months! We've watch her grow and learn. She knows everyone's name as she looks to you when you say "where's ______." She sits up, can get herself to a sitting position when laying down, she blabs non-stops, she can do the crab crawl and has mastered the arching of the back move (drives Nana crazy!) and this weekend she gained the hand eye coordination to be able to put her hands together as we sing "patty-cake". She is trying hard to become mobile. She rocks on her hands and knees - just the first glimpse of what it will take for her to crawl. And now she pulls herself up to almost a standing position when she has someone or something to hang on to. Amazing - really, what have the rest of us learned in 6 months??

Waiting for mama to come ...
It's Sunday, Janelle is home safely in Indy and Nana & G-Papa are hanging out at home with Kenley, waiting for her mama to arrive. I remembered how Janelle & Andrea loved to be put in the laundry basket and to be pushed around so we tried it with the next generation and viola, Kenley loved it too. Here are just a couple of shots taken on a very lazy Sunday afternoon.
Time to say Goodbye - I love you Auntie Ju Ju
At last, Janelle's two weeks in Washington were coming to an end. It was time to take her to Seatac to catch her redeye back to Indy. Janelle & Kenley had such a great time together these last two weeks. I'm not sure who enjoyed their time together the most! I just know they now have a very special bond! Hurry back Auntie Ju Ju - see you in December!
What a wild week - Week of July 27, 2009
Kenley (and the rest of us) experienced the worse heat wave the Northwest has ever seen. We all hated the stagnant air and hot temperatures (Gig Harbor was 107 on 7/22). I didn't mind going to work, just to be in an air-conditioned office! Janelle's friends left and she played auntie the rest of the week. Auntie was quite resourceful on finding ways to beat the heat. You'll see what I mean by the pictures! (yes some of the pictures the pool is inside the house). The heat and the pool play tuckered little Kenley out.
Kenley cut her second tooth by July 30 so now she has both bottom teeth. She coughs, runs her tongue over both of them and other than some bad diapers, she's been in the same good mood she always is. She is an amazing baby, such a good disposition.
On Saturday, August 1, Nana, G-Papa, Ju Ju and Kenley all took a drive up to Pt. Townsend. We went to Ft. Worden to hang on the beach and get some photos before Auntie Ju Ju had to catch her midnight flight back to Indy. Little did we know that there was an Indian canoe contest going on. The place was packed but we managed to finally find a place to park and get a few photos!
First Tooth - July 23
Kenley cut her first tooth on July 23. Of course, it's the bottom right. She's been working on it for months with all the drool that has fallen from her mouth! Every once in a while you can catch a peek of the little white baby tooth. I'll have pictures in another post.
July was a big month. Auntie Ju Ju and her friends came to visit on July 20th. Susan & Brittney stayed for a week. While Auntie and her friends came to Long Beach to meet up with Nana & G-Papa, Kenley stayed home. (But we're taking her to Seaside for a week in September!) But when Auntie got back, she took Kenley to Seattle and had a ball. Here are just a few pictures from the big day! First trip up in the Space Needle. First ferry ride from Bremerton to Seattle. First cruise by Dave Matthews house!
